1.I think elephants are regarded as endangered because, people kill the elephant to get its tusks.
Elephants have entertained us in circuses and festivals around the world. For centuries, the elephant's massive tusks have been prized for their ivory. People take advantage of elephants for there tusks. People kill elephants to get there meat, also when the natives didn't had any food to eat they would go hunting and kill elephants for there meat.

2. African elephants has a better chance to live because African elephants don't get hunted down like asian elephants.
Demand for ivory, combined with habitat loss from human settlement, has led to a dramatic decline in elephant populations in the last few decades. In 1930, there were between 5 and 10 million African elephants. By 1979, there were 1.3 million.
